We want to recognize the passing of long time instructor and mentor Don Ball, who took his last run to glory in November. Don joined the Meadows ski school as an instructor in the 60s, and continued teaching through the 2012 season and guest hosting after that.

We won’t be opening access gates to Heather Canyon or Private Reserve Sunday, as freezing levels rose higher than forecast today. Our Ski Patrol and Snow Safety teams aren’t liking what they’re seeing in Heather and PR, so out of an abundance of caution the gates will be closed.

Ok. No surprises here. Meadows has received six feet of snow this week - and it’s been mighty fine. Some of the best powder we’ve had in years. Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Patrol has been hard at work opening up more of legendary Heather Canyon today, with control gate access from Moon Bowl to the Heather lift line. They also opened gates to Elk and Yoda Bowls, and God’s Wall for some primo deep powder plunging.
