Last season, many ski area season pass purchasers were defrauded, getting caught up in an illegal credit card operation. This involved season passes from ski areas across the country, including those here in the Northwest. A criminal ring, which had obtained stolen credit card numbers, advertised through social media and other sites discounted season passes. When an unsuspecting purchaser contacted the ring, some personal (though no financial) information was exchanged, enough for the ring to purchase a pass in that person's name using the stolen credit card. Once the transaction was completed, the “purchaser” was provided a confirmation and transferred funds electronically to the ring, and then the pass issued to that person was fulfilled.

Eventually, the owner of the stolen credit card finds the charge and challenges it. The unlawful pass transaction is reported, the pass is cancelled and the purchaser loses pass privileges and is out the money they purchased the fraudulent pass with. Furthermore, that person may face additional penalties, as purchasing from an unauthorized third party is subject to prosecution for theft of services.

This illegal activity was so wide-spread last season it was turned over to the authorities for investigation. Here are tips for avoiding credit card fraud, among them is “Make sure you are purchasing merchandise from a reputable source.”

Credit Card Fraud Tips

You can purchase with confidence Meadows products on this website.

We work with a limited number of third-party sellers including: Costco, Washington State University/Vancouver, Adidas, Bergfruende Ski Club, Cooper Spur Mt. Resort, Best Western Plus Hood River Inn and the Hood River Hotel. They sell one day tickets (with Costco it is a two-pack) and they are authorized to sell those products.

Thank you for not purchasing Mt. Hood Meadows lift products from anyone other than the MHM website (SkiHood.com), a point of sale at Mt. Hood Meadows ski area, MeadowsPDX in Portland, a Mt. Hood Meadows outreach event; or an authorized third party seller.

One other warning - please don't sell a product that you have purchased through Meadows or from an authorized reseller. You are subject to the same penalties - purchasing from an unauthorized third party is subject to prosecution for theft of services.
